ARTIST STATEMENT

I grew up in Seattle and moved to the small town ofCarnation about 30 miles east in 1994, so I’ve been in the PNW most of mylife.  I studied Fiber Arts at the University of Washington, and learnedglass bead making in 1992 at the Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, followed bymany classes and workshops around the country by various glass artistsincluding Loren Stump and Lucio Bubacco.

My inspiration has always been about color andlight, so glass is the perfect medium for that. I work with Italian glassrods in countless colors, which I melt in the flame of a torch and wind arounda mandrel to create glass beads. I also make murrine, which are detailedimages created within a cane of glass, which is then sliced on a diamond sawand set into a bead. My style is small, brightly colored, wearable beadsand jewelry.

My work can usually be found at the Pike PlaceMarket (Seattle) and at art shows (Seattle/Portland). I also sell onlinevia my website, email, facebook and instagram.
