ARTIST STATEMENT

Beginnings: I grew up in the woods on the edge of Eugene, Oregon. I have always been a Nature observer with a special love of cats and horses. I like the feel of clay and its unlimited sculptural possibilities. My first clay experience was making small pots from the natural black clay found by the neighborhood creek.

Middles: I produce slab rolled ,textured wall pieces, mostly cats, birds, or sea life . I impress designs with found, purchased ,or handmade items. I use a mid-range stoneware clay. I glaze with layers of reactive washes, commercial under glaze, , and gloss cone 6 glaze . I also make small porcelain dishes and a wide variety of Christmas ornaments.

Enders: Now 70 years old, I look back on 35 years of a creative potters life. From traveling to Northwest art and craft shows to all my friends at Oregon Potters Assn. , from Eugene and Portland's Saturday Markets , to the new experience of Etsy.com and on -line marketing , I cherish it all .
