ARTIST STATEMENT

I learned to make pottery by taking workshops. All my pieces are made with slabs. Most all of them are glazed with glazes I developed. The pandemic forced me to develop a website and open an etsy shop, if I wanted to continue making pottery. It’s such a thrill when somebody likes one of my pieces enough to buy it that it is hard to give it up.

My art work is mostly inspired by nature- mainly trees and grasses. Also, it is informed by fractals - the rhythms of nature. I began with bowls with ruffled edges, progressed to pitchers with sprigged grasses, then boxes with impressed patterns and recently bowls and vases with pierced tree trunks to express the multiple fractals of nature.

My work can also be found at:
Studio One at GPMA
Clayfolk Show and Sale in Medford, OR
Showcase in Portland, OR
