I migrated to the Pacific Northwest 26 years ago from the rust belt of western New York state. Oregon's stunning natural beauty and it's distinctive temperate zones transformed by natural forces have inspired my adventures in clay.
The clay I work with is mostly formed on the potters wheel, and fired to at least cone 10 in my gas reduction atmosphere kiln, or it's bound for a 120 hour wood firing. When I'm forming the pots in my studio I have a general idea for the desired outcome of the surface appearance, but really it's up to the kilns atmosphere to make the final surface treatments. Having that element of the unknown in the clay process during firing is exciting and what keeps my hands in the clay. Also, there is a real sense of community during the wood firing process, many hands working and stoking towards a common goal.
Currently my work can be purchased by contacting me directly for a studio appointment, or by visiting my shop space on Etsy.
