Emily Free Wilson

Free Ceramics

Emily Free Wilson

Gardiner, Oregon

ARTIST STATEMENT

I own and run my pottery business Free Ceramics with my husband Matt Wilson. I am also the Director of the non-profit the Oregon Coast School of Art. I was born in Anchorage, Alaska and grew up in Roseburg, Oregon.

After college in Madison, Wisconsin I spent 10 years as the gallery director at the Archie Bray Foundation. While in Montana I started Free Ceramics and converted an old funeral home into a community art center. In 2019 I moved my family and Free Ceramics to Gardiner, Oregon where we purchased the old Jewett school.

I am currently making pottery in Gardiner with Matt and our two children, while starting this incredible art school that will host art classes and a residency program.
