My name is Ethan Ritter, I was born and raised in MN but have lived in Portland since 2015. I fell in love with ceramics in high school and from then on I have been exploring a variety of ways to hone my skills on the wheel. My body of work is constantly evolving as I explore new techniques, pushing my pieces closer to their creative limits.

All of my work is fired to cone 10 with the majority of my work being fired in either a wood or soda ash atmosphere. The NW offers a rich woodfire community due to a variety of anagama kilns built throughout the area with each kiln providing a variety of affects that can alter pieces in a multitude of ways due to the dynamic and volatile conditions within the kiln. The extreme conditions these pots endure can sometimes result in a considerable loss over the course of a full 5 day firing. This make every piece that emerges from the ashes that much more precious and unique.
