Hui-Yong Kim pronounced (He-Young) born and raised in South Korea. In 2009, I moved to Portland, Oregon from Singapore, Japan. I love for ceramics started in 2008; while on vacation in America.
Over the years, I have mainly been inspired by traditional Asian elegant forms of ceramics. As an artist, my aims for flawless perfection in all my pieces; which requires countless hours of practice, patience, and dedication. All my pieces are wheel thrown individually and I prefer to spray the glazes to get an even coat around. Raku as well, I fire one piece at a time to get en even fire all around.
I have always had much love for galaxies above us and was inspired to named my business after it 'Galaxy Clay.' I mix glaze for my pieces resemble the far-out galaxies of our solar system. Each Raku piece I create is it's own mini galaxy.
You can find my work online.
