I was born and raised in Japan. I moved to the United States in 2008, and earned my BA degree in Studio Art from California State University Long Beach in 2015. In 2019, I moved in Vancouver, WA from Las Angeles, CA.
What fascinates me about ceramics is that while I can control the clay to form objects, I have to leave the final process to firing. This combination of controllability and fortuity can make one alternate between hope and despair sometimes, but perseverance is in the end rewarded by outcomes.
Most of my work is functional and done by wheel throwing. I hope my works add joy to your table or home, and make your everyday life richer. I use stoneware clay and fire in an electric kiln. In the past few years, I’ve been interested in combining other media like fiber or metal with clay in order to explore the potential of ceramics.
