Nicole Hummel Ceramics
Nicole Hummel is a ceramic artist that makes vessels to enhance the rituals of our daily lives - from the morning cup of coffee, the afternoon pot of tea, dinner with friends or decorative pieces for your home. She likes to explore texture and form, developing imaginative but functional pieces that are firmly rooted in organic forms and surfaces. Fascinated with the process of atmospheric firing, her pottery often features textured glazes and spontaneous surfaces, as well as decorative slip trailing.
Continuing the craft of ceramics is radical and revolutionary in a world where we are increasingly surrounded by machine-made goods. Nicole sees herself as part of keeping the tradition of craft alive in this modern world, by continuing to create and teach the craft of ceramics.
Currently, she sells on her website, at Touchstone Gallery in Yachats, Oregon, Throwing Mud Gallery in Tacoma, Washington, and at various art shows throughout the Pacific Northwest.
