ARTIST STATEMENT
Roberta Lampert has lived in Portland, Oregon since 1978. She focuses on functional work that relates to the natural world in textures and forms. She enjoys backpacking, hiking, and kayaking, and finds that the exploration of nature contributes to the shapes and decoration of her work.
Roberta enjoys the meditative quality of throwing series of pieces, as well as hand-building more unique pieces. Her work is characterized by attention to form and surface. Until last year Roberta worked with mid-range electric firing, and participated in wood firing in several kilns in the Portland area. Last year, Roberta built a soda/salt kiln to take create an atmospheric kiln at her studio, developing an additional avenue for her work.
