ARTIST STATEMENT
"Carrot Flower Creative is a small studio in Portland, Oregon, focused on aligning art, creativity, and spiritual practice with work mostly centered in ceramics. Most of my work is slab built mid-fire clay with impressions of lace and fiber textures in the wet clay. Many of the lace used in my pieces were given to me by family members over the years, including some pieces which were handmade by my great grandmother.
I have a BFA in Craft from Oregon College of Art and Craft and an MFA in Critical Theory and Interdisciplinary Studio from the Maine College of Art. I've worked several years in museum and art education as an educator, program organizer, and curator. I currently serve on the Board of the Alberta Abbey Foundation, an arts center and music venue centering the creativity of BIPOC artists and musicians in the region.
