I am a long time Portland resident and member of OPA. I love animals and folk art which influences my pottery. Primarily self taught, my work is mostly sculptural, wheel thrown with hand built parts added to make whimsical animals.
Recently I have been making pieces to hang on the wall and clay cacti and succulents which I love and can reside in your house or garden without watering! I work with a stoneware clay body fired to 2200 F. in an oxidation atmosphere.
My work is available on my website (sandyvisse.com) and in several galleries: Art Elements in Newberg, Attic Gallery in Camas, Wa.and Fairweather Gallery in Seaside. Local 14, an art group (not a union!) of which I am a long time member holds an annual fall Art Show and Sale at the Forestry Center in Portland where I will have my work displayed. A studio sale at my home with a few other artists is also planned for this fall.
