Shelly Fredenberg Studio
I am a sculptor at heart. My process with clay is intuitive and organic. My work plays at the intersection of form and function. I make each piece one at a time. Line, form and texture are borrowed from my experiences with nature, relationships I keep, and stories I hold close.
I grew up in Montana and I spent countless hours in nearby forests, lakes and rivers. In nature I have always found solace, adventure and “treasure”. I still gather reminders to carry home in my pocket.
In '95 I received my BA in Printmaking from MSU. (Curiously, I have never made a print since.) In 2014, after the successive loss of my parents, I found my way back into clay as a way to turn sorrow into song.
Today, I make my work and my life in Eugene with people and animals I love.
Every day I am in awe of just how beautiful and mysterious this life is. I always meet what comes next with authenticity, openness and curiosity.
My work can be purchased from my online shop at .
