ARTIST STATEMENT

Stephanie Burton has lived in the Pacific NW all her life. After receiving her art degree and with a fresh portfolio in tow, she moved to Seattle, Washington to pursue her career in art. Her very first job as a commercial artist was working for a small publishing co. where she was the "Jill of all trades" as an in-house illustrator, typesetter & photographer.

After living in Seattle for 11 years she relocated to Portland OR. Once settled, Stephanie enrolled into a Sculpture Class at PCC Rock Creek...and then a ceramics class. She immediately felt connected to the tactile experience of using her bare hands in clay.

Fast forward years later, Stephanie has been working as the hand-building teacher at Georgie's Ceramics for 8 years and opened Stephanie Burton Studios in Vancouver, WA where she currently resides and teaches Clay Workshops & offers Clay Open Studio & Custom Firing. Art Nouveau is a strong influence for my patterns & images and I'm obsessed with COLOR & TEXTURE!
