ARTIST STATEMENT
I'm a 5th generation Oregonian and a 1st generation spinner/weaver/dyer. I love color, texture and the alchemy of dyeing, particularly within the fiber arts; and after a career in public service, I have become an avid student and occasional teacher of these arts. Bold, simple design (think Bauhaus, Japanese) appeals to me, and I am equally influenced by the soft, mossy colors of a Pacific NW forest, as I am the riotous displays of the tropics.
I use both commercial and natural dyes in my work, which includes handwoven wool, silk and cotton scarves; handspun art yarns; and contact printed silks. I also dye and card mixed-fiber batts for spinning, felting and other artwork.
My creations are usually available at numerous art and fiber shows throughout the region. However, with the cancellation of most, due to COVID, I can be reached any time via the website, or by email or phone, to arrange sales and delivery. I accept cash, credit cards and checks. Thank you for supporting local artists.
