A family friend introduced me to weaving in the early 70's. She gave me a loom and provided years of guidance and friendship, I've been weaving ever since. I still have that Harrisville 4 harness floor loom, plus an 8 harness Harrisville floor loom, a LeClerc Dorothy table loom, a 2 harness toy loom, and an Inkle loom. At least 2 of the looms, and usually more, are busy at any given time.
I consider myself a weaver of practical textiles that are artful.
My handy and colorful cotton towels give me the opportunity to explore the relationship colors have with each other. Adding a couple of complementary colored threads to a design adds artistic depth to a useful towel.
Weaving scarves lets me play with color, texture and structure while creating with yarns such as bamboo, tencel or silk, in addition to cotton. The best thing is both are functional art!
I'll happily set up a Covid-safe pop-up shop on my porch for you to browse the textiles, or visit my website to see more and purchase.
