In over 40 years of handweaving, I have sought to interpret the textures and colors of nature in my weaving, focusing on simplicity of design and use of materials evidenced by my recent work integrating natural fibers and textiles in my JerseyGirl studio.
Living with beautiful objects that pay tribute to the natural world reminds us to slow down and to reconnect with nature, something that has been at the heart of my work first as I honed my weaving skills in Norway, then in my years in the central New York Finger Lakes region and for the past decade weaving in the shadow of four majestic Douglas firs on the grounds of my home in Portland.
The table runners displayed here were inspired by native Hawaiian work I encountered in Maui. Woven with pan reeds, these textiles are in keeping with my commitment to explore the design capabilities of simple weave structures to produce sophisticated, useful, and pleasing fabrics for home décor. https://www.etsy.com/shop/JerseygirlHandwovens
