ARTIST STATEMENT

Attending art shows is a favorite pastime of mine. I’ve always been attracted to glass displays, so imagine my excitement when I learned fused glass was something I could make myself!
I really like creating scenic landscapes, but I dabble a bit in abstract as well.

My ideas for designs typically come from our travels and my husband’s photography. Using large sheets of glass that I hand cut and various sizes of crushed glass called frit, I make landscapes and contemporary art to hang or display in stands. I layer and arrange the glass and use multiple firings to create visual depth. By controlling the temperature and time in the kiln, the pieces can be completely smooth or have texture.

I have been fortunate enough to learn techniques directly from world renown artists and incorporate them into my artwork.
