I started metalworking with blacksmithing and never looked back. There's something elemental about working with metal - I find it simultaneously powerful and peaceful.
I'm also a certified braille transcriber, and often incorporate it into my work. All braille is correct, contracted, grade 2 braille and is appropriately sized and spaced for tactile readers. Braille is beautiful and clever, and more than just the alphabet - each piece feels like a secret message. I find it comforting to have a favorite quote or word I can touch as a wish or reminder. If you have a note you'd like for yourself, please contact me about custom work.
I use mostly lab-grown gemstones in my work, out of consideration for both the environment and workers involved. They're chemically the same and very cool bits of science. Some of my love for metalworking is love of science, and this carries over into my choices in gems.
I live in Vancouver, WA with my snake Clementine and a staggering number of hammers.
